Dana Perlman is an attorney and has been in private practice for 37 years. Dana manages his own firm (Perlman & Associates), where he specializes in business and real estate law. Dana has extensive experience representing businesses and individuals in a wide variety of real estate and business transactions and litigation.

In 2020, Dana received the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s National Leadership Award, after having served as a Member of the United States Holocaust Memorial Council (appointed by President Obama in 2013) and as the National Chair of the Museum’s Legacy of Light Society (2016-2018). Dana remains closely engaged with the Museum, continuing to serve on the Museum’s Committee on Holocaust Denial and State-Sponsored Anti-Semitism and the Collection’s and Acquisitions Committee.

In 2023, Dana resigned from the Los Angeles City Planning Commission, after having served more than 10 years. Dana was initially appointed by Mayor Villaraigosa and was re-appointed twice by Mayor Garcetti. During a portion of his tenure, Dana also served as the Vice President of the Planning Commission.

Some of Dana’s other past, and present, positions include: Member of the National Finance Committee of the Biden Victory Fund; Co-Chair of the LGBT Leadership Council of the Democratic National Committee; Member of the National Finance Committee of the Hillary for America campaign; Member of the Board of Directors, Board of Governors and Emeritus Council of the Human Rights Campaign (HRC); National Co-Chair, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum’s Second Generation Leadership Mission; Member of the National Finance Committee of the Obama for America campaign; Member of the Board of Directors of the Los Angeles Regional Foodbank Member of the Oversight Committee, Project Angel Food Expansion Project; Member of the City of Los Angeles Board of Transportation Commissioners.

While an undergraduate student at UCLA, Dana founded Project Mac, which provided tutoring and mentoring by UCLA students to children placed into protective custody and housed at LA County’s MacLaren Hall. Also, during his time at UCLA, Dana served as the chair of the Judicial Review Board of the UCLA Students Association, was a member of the University Policies Commission, was a member of Zeta Beta Tau and served on the Los Angeles County Commission on Youth.

Dana graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics in 1983 and from USC with a Juris Doctor in 1986.

Dana and his husband, Hugh Kinsellagh, live in Los Angeles and Los Olivos, California.
