LOS ANGELES (Jan. 13, 2025) — Amidst the devastating wildfires ravaging Los Angeles County, Grammy-winning artist and activist Annie Lennox visited Project Angel Food's kitchen today to support the staff and volunteers tirelessly working to provide relief to affected communities. Lennox, a longtime advocate for humanitarian causes — and Project Angel Food — also made a significant contribution to Project Angel Food’s Fire Relief Fund, which has already raised more than $500,000 since its inception on Friday, Jan. 10.

Lennox spent the afternoon in the kitchen, personally thanking more than 50 volunteers and staff. She remarked, “Meeting these volunteers was a shot in the arm for me. Being able to flip the narrative from hopelessness to engagement can shift your perspective completely. Project Angel Food is adapting to the needs people have, extending what they’ve done for decades, and responding remarkably effectively.”

The fund's success has been bolstered by major donations, including a $250,000 grant from The Chuck Lorre Family Foundation, $25,000 in contributions from both United Talent Agency and The Nederlander Organization and The Pantages Theater, and $50,000 from Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Additional donations came from Lennox herself, Lori Loughlin, Victoria Principal, and others in the entertainment community. A live fundraising effort on KTLA Morning News, hosted by KTLA’s Megan Telles, raised $97,000 in just four hours on the morning of Jan. 10, demonstrating the community's robust support.

The call to action was further amplified by Paris Hilton, who after losing her own home in the fire, used her platform of 27 million Instagram followers to inspire thousands to volunteer. This surge of support more than doubled volunteer engagement in just 48 hours. In 2024, Project Angel Food had 3,800 total volunteers. As of publishing, more than 8,000 offers to help have poured in from across Los Angeles to support the organization’s fire relief efforts.

Project Angel Food CEO Richard Ayoub reflected on this overwhelming outpouring of support: “It is at times like these that we see humanity at its best. The support from volunteers and donors has been overwhelming in the best way possible. We are continuing to feed people with serious illnesses, hundreds of whom have been directly impacted by the fires. We are adapting our services to not only deliver medically tailored meals but also provide hygiene products, clothing, ready-to-eat meals, etc. Our fire fund is enabling us to meet those needs.”

Project Angel Food’s Immediate Response to the Crisis

In response to the fires, Project Angel Food has significantly expanded its services:
