Many of the 2,400 critically ill clients Project Angel Food serves every day with Medically Tailored Meals are mothers — mothers like Sylvia. Sylvia lost her job after starting treatment for breast cancer. Along with financial worries, extreme exhaustion after her treatments made it more difficult to prepare meals for her 10-year-old daughter, Mila.
But thanks to our vital work and your generosity, there is hope.
Sylvia is grateful and tells us, “Project Angel Food means help. I don’t have to do this alone. When my meals are delivered it is a bright spot in my week. I have healthy meals, we have fruits and vegetables in the house, and breakfasts for my daughter.”
For Mother’s Day, in addition to delivering Medically Tailored Meals to our critically ill mothers, we are delivering a message of love with flowers. Dozens of volunteers have been creating arrangements of Alstroemeria, more commonly called the Peruvian lily or lily of the Incas, to be delivered through Sunday to over 1,100 of our clients. Over 3,500 stems of flowers are being used so our headquarters in Hollywood is smelling like a flower shop!
This Mother’s Day, we ask you to consider making a gift to help us continue to deliver Medically Tailored Meals to mothers living with cancer, heart disease, kidney failure, HIV/AIDS, and other critical illnesses. Your gift can make a difference, like it has for Sylvia. Donate here!
