The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation Sponsor Christmas Eve Meals at Project Angel Food

For 2,300Critically Ill People in Los Angeles

Subir Chowdhury, globally recognized business consultant and best-selling author of The Difference: When Good Enough Isn’t Enough, has transformed the lives of organizations and individuals by teaching them to develop a caring mindset both in and out of the workplace. This holiday season, he and his family are putting his principles into practice as The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation sponsors Christmas Eve meals for 2,300 critically ill Los Angeles residents served by Project Angel Food.

Chowdhury, speaking on behalf of the Foundation, says, “It is our honor to be able to be of service this Christmas, when so many people feel isolated or alone.” Adding, “I write that straightforwardness, thoughtfulness, accountability and resolve are key to the success of any organization and I see that reflected in the work of Project Angel Food. They are clear on their mission of give to others; are thoughtful in their compassion; they said they would never miss a meal during the pandemic and haven’t, and they are resolved to give back to the community in a way that completely aligns with The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation’s mission.

In celebration of their generous gift, the Chowdhury family, including son Anish and daughter Anandi, will join Project Angel Food Executive Director Richard Ayoub on Sunday, December 20, to place holiday messages on meals; and deliver them to clients. This continues the tradition of Project Angel Food volunteerism and hands-on philanthropy demonstrated by the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Adam Lambert, Sharon Stone, and others.

“With COVID cases soaring in Los Angeles, our clients are more cautious and concerned than ever,” says Richard Ayoub, Executive Director of Project Angel Food. “Now, thanks to compassion of Subir and Malini Chowdhury, their children and their Foundation, our most vulnerable among us can experience the peace that the promise of Christmas Eve holds. We are grateful.”

The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation is dedicated to improving quality of life through education, research and partnership. On this effort, the Foundation helped to establish the Subir and Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies at UC Berkeley; Subir Chowdhury School of Quality and Reliability at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur; a graduate fellowship at Harvard University and a post-graduate fellowship at London School of Economics on quality and economics and The Chowdhury Prize at the University of Southern California to be awarded to a mid-career American author for literary contribution.

Project Angel Food provides medically tailored meals to people who are living with life-threatening illnesses such as HIV/AIDS, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, etc. Because Project Angel Food clients are most vulnerable to COVID-19, these services have never been as vital as they are today. Since March 2020, Project Angel Food has increased service by service over 54% from 1,500 people per day to over 2,300 people per day. Mayor Eric Garcetti has designated Project Angel Food an essential service in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
