The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation Sponsors Christmas Eve Meals for 2ndYear in a Row at Project Angel Food
For 2,400 Critically Ill People in Los Angeles

Los Angeles, CA – December 18, 2021.  The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation is sponsoring Christmas Eve meals for2,400 critically ill Los Angeles residents served by Project Angel Food for a second year in a row.  Subir Chowdhury, his wife Malini, and children joined Richard Ayoub, CEO and Mark McBride, Director of Philanthropy of Project Angel Food, at the Project Angel Food Kitchen on Saturday, December 18, to help prepare and pack meals, label them with personal messages of hope, and deliver them to clients in the Los Angeles Area.

Chowdhury, speaking on behalf of the Foundation, said, “It is our honor to be able to be of service this Christmas, when so many people feel isolated or alone.” Adding, “Sponsoring these meals and participating in this way, aligns with the vision of our organization improve the quality of life for everyone we can.”

Richard Ayoub says, “The consistency with which Subir, Malini and The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation show up Los Angeles’s most vulnerable neighbors has such a huge impact their lives. Angel Food is not only providing them Medically Tailored Meals, designed to improve health outcomes, we are providing them with compassion and humanity and that is what the Chowdhury family exemplifies.

McBride adds, “It’s become a holiday tradition to see Subir, Malini, their son Anish and daughter Anandi helping deliver the meals their gifts and generosity make possible. Clients are often isolated and alone during the holidays; to get these beautiful meals and messages of love from the Chowdhury’s is transformative. They know they are loved.”

The Subir and Malini Chowdhury Foundation is dedicated to improving quality of life through education, research, and partnership. On this effort, the Foundation helped to establish the Subir and Malini Chowdhury Center for Bangladesh Studies at UC Berkeley; Subir Chowdhury School of Quality and Reliability at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur; a graduate fellowship at Harvard University and a post-graduate fellowship at London School of Economics on quality and economics and The Chowdhury Prize at the University of Southern California to be awarded to a mid-career American author for literary contribution. This Christmas season, the Chowdhury Family Scholarship for LAUSD High School was awarded to 6 talented students that are in financial need to achieve their academic goals.

‍Project Angel Food strives to end food insecurity and improve health outcomes of critically ill men, women, and children in Los Angeles with Medically Tailored Meals, delivered with care and compassion directly to their homes. Over 2,400 clients are feed daily, this is a 54% increase from pre-pandemic numbers.  Project Angel Food has delivered over1,070,000 meals to date in 2021, and over 14,000,000 since its founding in1989. The organization had been a Four-Star Charity Navigator rating and has been declared an essential service by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti.
