OUR CLIENTS

The Client Experience

Our clients come from all walks of life. They are mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters, and sons each with their own unique story. The one thing they have in common is they are living with a serious illness. The meals that Project Angel Food delivers are more often than not the main source of nourishment for our clients’ already compromised health.

Client Enrollment Process

When someone first calls to become a client, they will be connected to a Client Services Intake professional who will inform them how to download and complete the intake forms from this website.

Upon medical verification, meal service is started within a few weeks. We keep informed on each client’s nutritional intake, any health issues, complications, personal challenges, and other developments. Regular surveys give us feedback to refine and improve the client experience.

Food allergies

Project Angel Food’s staff does our best to accommodate clients with a variety of dietary needs, but the meals are not produced in an allergen-free environment. Food prepared in our kitchen may come in contact with wheat, gluten, milk, eggs, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, fish, and shellfish. If you have any food allergies, please discuss it with your doctor to determine whether our meals are appropriate for you.

celebrating holidays and birthdays

Clients receive special Thanksgiving and December holiday meals. To make the holidays extra special, we also provide gifts for the children of people we serve. For Valentine’s Day, we share the love by including cards and small treats with our clients’ meals. These small, thoughtful acts can mean the world to the people we serve, especially because battling a serious illness can be incredibly isolating.

Each client also receives a hand-decorated birthday bag of cheer. Sometimes this can be the only recognition of their special day since serious illnesses can be isolating. If you would like to donate items for birthday bags,
please contact client services
at clientservices@angelfood.org or call 323-845-1810.

What if a client has a concern about our service?

PAF welcomes and encourages client feedback. It helps us continually improve, innovate, and increase client satisfaction. For that reason, we conduct an annual survey of our current clients each summer, and we invite clients leaving service to complete a brief telephonic exit survey. Apart from those surveys, we welcome feedback at any time.

We pride ourselves on meals that improve a client’s health – and that clients enjoy. However, if a client has a concern about their health and safety in connection with our meals, they should contact us immediately and explain the situation in detail. Our Quality Assurance Specialist will investigate and follow up any such concerns. Of course, in an emergency, always call 911.

If you wish to issue a complaint, here is a copy of our Client Grievance Policy.

HOW TO BECOME A CLIENT?

If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with a life-threatening illness and are unable to independently access healthy food, our free home-delivered meal program may be the help you need. Enrollment forms and additional information can be found here.

If you have any questions or require assistance filling out the forms, please do not hesitate to call Client Services at 800-761-8889 or 323-845-1810.

Many of our clients are referred from our treasured community partners. Here is a complete list of Project Angel Food community partners.
