Ringo Starr, legendary drummer of The Beatles, made a surprise appearance to open Project Angel Food’s LEAD WITH LOVE 2021 Telethon presented by City National Bank, which aired live on KTLA 5 on Saturday, July 17, from 7-9 p.m.

“Hello, Los Angeles,” Ringo said, flashing his famous peace sign and smiling. He continued, “All you need is love…peace and love that is. No one understands that better than Project Angel Food.”

Ringo’s surprise video arrived at KTLA on Friday evening, and the show open was rearranged so the rock ‘n roll icon could kick off Lead with Love 2021. 

Will & Grace star Eric McCormack and the magnificent KTLA anchor Jessica Holmes hosted, along with Loni Love and Alec Mapa as co-hosts and Lisa Foxx as the announcer. Project Angel Food succeeded in raising $1,126,090, far surpassing our fundraising goal of $800,000.  It’s not too late to give.
